common knowledge by now, ying and i have known each other for a decade! (eeee yikes, we're getting old liaos) like she said, we hardly talked during pri 4. i was vaguely aware of her existence. she wasnt in my clique, and i was probably too engrossed in books. i do recall however, greeting her a few times when i see her around the school. but. she. never. replies. she just saunders past you, as if you were completely invisible and leaves you feeling like an idiot. my first impression of her was thus... hmmm... i thought she had an attitude prob. haha!
by pri 5, we've "clicked" together, along with sheena. in the mornings, ying is still as grouchy as ever. hence sheena and i coined the term, "morning illness" to be used to describe her. but of course, the grouchiness sometime extends well beyond noon. ying was incredibly quiet with others, some people asked me if she even speaks at all. but little do they know when she gets agitated, she can slap you real hard on the arm. when we reshuffled seats in pri 5, our form teacher then put us in groups of 4. and of course, we were grouped together. ms ng told me that being ying's gd fren, i should help her integrate with the rest of group. i was thinking 'yeah rite'. fortunately for us, the two other guys - ljm and bx, were exceedingly humourous, and they cracked us up all the time. we were seated in a T-shaped formation, and i recall always having 'leg fights' with ying. sometimes, they were too obvious, and we get scolded by teachers during lesson.
our clique in general was nice. there was a 4th member, who was drifting in and out most of the time. nonetheless, i liked our clique because we were pretty much anti-social to the rest of the class. this is not a bad thing in my opinion. you see, the guys were too engrossed in soccer to be bothered with anything else, and the other girls were... er... plain childish. yes, even at that point in time, i felt my peers were childish. they disliked us for reasons mentioned by ying, but then again, we didnt care enough to actually bother. i like that attitude man! we went round doing our own silly stuffs like playing hopscotch, zeropoint, running around the sch in search of... unusual sightings den get freaked out by it, tell ghost stories, hanging out at tiong bahru plaza, ying's or my place. (oddly, we've never been to sheena's place before, have we?)
i remember how ying was always seated infront or behind me during exams. once i was rocking my chair and leaning the entire weight on her desk. then ying just pulled her table away, causing me to crash onto the floor. as if that wasn't humiliating enough, i was 'stuck' between the two front legs of her desk, unable to get out. my form teacher had to come over to help me up. THANKS A LOT AH YING.
towards pri 6, we were usually seated near the windows for exams. and we used to have 'window fights' too. and we'd keep sliding the window panels back and forth. after psle, we helped out with the backstage for the school's production. we were sewing all sorts of silly and odd-shaped promps, sequins onto ugly costumes, and making stupid magical trees.
out came the results and lo and behold, we were both going to scgs! but i was kinda dreading it. cuz i honestly hated the school for the first 8 mths? i hated my class, my teachers, my subjects... i think i felt quite depressed during that period. i was drifting between cliques. so obviously, results detoriated and voila! all of us were sent to the lousiest class for higher chinese students in sec 2! some glam shit huh?
so ying had her other 3 frens, which included shan of course. shan unfortunately, being too soft-spoken, didnt leave much of a HUGE impression on me. ironic she is complaining ying to be thin, when i dun see any diff b/w the both of them. i learnt tt shan was a vegetarian who eat eggs! i was like -_-"... hahaha. she struck me as someone gd in IT then, cuz i'd used to do all stupid things during computer lessons except listening to the teacher and thus always buggered shan to help me get to the right screen. that perception of her has totally changed now, and i believe she's more of an IT idiot than both ying and i are. oh! i also remember shan being the maths genius amongst us. her maths den was very zai one ok! eh shan, what happened to u?? haha...
yupyup, den we all went different classes after sec 2, and subsequently different jcs. seldom met up with them, although every once in a while will meet up with ying to study.
den before i knew it, shan was attached! we saw her bf, well, not much of a hunk but extremely nice to her wor! u see, i believe niceness and gd looks are almost mutually exclusive(for guys). so it's kinda a gd thing, and i guess we were happi for her!
subsequently we worked on the flower biz together. which was a great experience, cuz i've never known them to be serious workers, but the biz proves that they were. the useless homepage is still floating around on the web... but yeah! cheers to the moaning sisters! and shan, though not part of the moaning sisters cuz she was working at dfs half the time, was around for most of her bf's extremely lame ice gotcha jokes.
well, hopefully after some remodelling and restructuring, we'll be able to pull another fast one off like this. i am a bit apprehensive abt the success really, but we'll have to see how things goes. i wonder if we even have time for that. hmmz.
next up!! everyone's to post humorous recollections!
